Energy conservation, energy efficiency, alternative cleaner energy, renewable energy and energy storage are all parts of the climate change solution equation. No single approach is potent enough to fight climate change alone. A combination of approaches are needed to ensure technical, economical and environmental benefits. Many factors such as geographic location, point of use, generation, transmission and distribution infrastructures and consumer demographic influence the choice of suitable energy strategies such as solar, wind, wave, biomass, battery and hydrogen fuel cell etc. GGI provides remote sensing-based geospatial analytics & Geoinformatics solutions to private, public, government, nonprofit and institutional customers for solar, wind, wave and renewable hydrogen fuel cell energy generation and battery storage project proliferations. These solutions significantly reduce site selection, design and customer acquisition costs and improve accuracies of power purchase agreement (PPA) metrics of renewable energy and energy storage projects for developers, installers and independent power producers (IPPs). With the passage of CA SB 100, the case for renewable energy has never been stronger. It is also encouraging to see that in the first half of 2017 about 46% of the new power capacity in the USA is from renewable sources. GGI brings innovative technical and business solutions to facilitate proliferation of safe, affordable and reliable renewable energy systems, energy storage systems and advanced clean transportation fueling systems. We need to ensure optimal production from installed PV panels. Solar panels are prone to soiling because of the outside dusty environment and airborne foreign objects. The soling by dusts, ashes from wildfires, snow, leaves, rain, pollen, birds’ droppings and feathers can obstructs sun rays on the panel surface and reduce energy productions significantly, up to 40%. This is huge energy production loss. Even 2% loss in energy production can be detrimental to solar energy economics. Periodic cleaning of panels is required in order to reduce this energy production loss from panel soiling, lowering levelized cost of energy (LCOE) and maximizing return on investment (ROI). Many cleaning approaches including manual and robotic using detergent, water and manual brushing have been introduced earlier. These are labor intensive, energy intensive, risky, environmentally hostile and inefficient approaches. A few automated approaches also use water cleaning which is ineffective and environmentally risky. GGI has invented (U.S. Patent No. 11,316,469; U.S. Patent Publication No. 2022/0216826; and other patents pending) an autonomous PV panels air cleaning system which consumes no water, chemicals and net energy. It is a low-maintenance and low-cost system that is highly effective without any human involvement for operations. This system significantly reduces global solar energy production loss from residential, commercial, industrial and Utility-scale solar PV panels soiling.
The Solar Industry Opportunity
Installers physically need to get on roofs for accurate proposals
- Measuring roof obstructions/shade is time consuming & expensive
- Each installation is a custom design
- Inconvenient & intrusive for homeowners
- High number of unqualified leads
Installers risk $1000 - $3000 cost on a proposal due to inaccurate preliminary design
GGI automates the most time-consuming steps of the customer acquisition process using large area remote sensing (LiDAR and/or SfM/Photogrammetry)-derived analytics and reduces the need for costly pre-installation site visits/truck rolls
- 1Proprietary algorithms for feature extraction (distinguish objects)-based calculations
- 2Proprietary algorithms for performing shade analysis directly from point clouds
- 3Custom HW/SW architecture for processing billions of points in a single batch
